Max C. Weiss
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
The Baseball King is Max C. Weiss' first published book. The book was inspired by this eight-year-old author's entrepreneurial spirt, his love for baseball, and his interest in storytelling.
Encouraged by his younger siblings, Max weaves a narrative that explores the bond of friendship and the dedication and sacrifices required to become the best. The beatuiful illustrations throughout the book are the work of Max's grandmother, Linda Kay.
Max loves to write stories. He enjoys sharing them even more with his parents and younger siblings. One day, Max came home with about 5 one-dollar bills. When asked from where the bills came, he replied, "I sold my book to the neighbors. His book (this book) at the time was typed out on a single piece of paper. Thus that was the genesis of this project.
ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR
The beatuiful illustrations throughout the book are the work of Max's grandmother, Linda Kay. Max's original book -- the one printed on a single piece of paper, didn't have illustrations. Perhaps the inspiration to take his idea further was originally spawned upon realization that there is a talented artist in the family. Of course, the many paintings and portraits that adorn Max's home, which are the work of his grandma, wasn't the type of artwork one might find in a children's book. But it sure seemed like a great idea, and it was! Artists can tend to stress over little things, and thus Max assured her that this was just for fun. Of course there would be no web sites. No distribution. No celebrity endorsements, and no book signings. Max and the rest of the family are extremely proud of the wonderful contribution made by Linda. An eight-year-old writing a book certainley couldn't leave the illustrations to an outsider. Grandma fit the bill just pefectly!
